Her experience also includes four years in municipal government, where she proudly represented Ward 1 in Orillia from 2022 to 2026, bringing her business expertise, leadership, and commitment to community development to public service.

In 2022, Whitney Smith was elected to Orillia City Council, proudly representing Ward 1 from 2022 to 2026. Born in Orillia and a fourth-generation entrepreneur, she proudly carries forward the legacy of her grandfather, Reg Smith, a respected local businessman and community advocate who was actively involved in municipal politics. His vision of working “For a Greater Orillia” continues to inspire her commitment to the community. Her father, Michael Smith, was a respected land developer who helped pioneer affordable housing developments in Orillia, creating housing opportunities that continue to benefit local families today.

Throughout her time on Council, Whitney worked alongside community organizations, healthcare partners, fellow elected officials, and local businesses to support initiatives addressing healthcare access, community safety, economic development, and municipal accountability.
